Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I have a Pest Control Treatment done?

Generally, an annual pest control treatment is sufficient. This will ensure your house has minimal levels of pest activity and it will greatly reduce the chance of future pest infestations developing.

However, this will depend on the type of pest that’s present and environmental conditions. We have clients that have their pest control treatment done both annually and 6 monthly.

Is Pest Control safe for my family and pets?

Yes. We only use the safest and latest products. All products we use have been approved by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA).

These same products are also used to carry out treatments in hospitals, schools, childcare centres, food manufacturing plants and many other sensitive situations. Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are available on request.

How often should I have my house inspected for Termites?

Unfortunately, home and contents insurance does not cover termite damage and/or eradication, so early detection of termite activity is vital to allow treatments to be carried out ASAP, thus minimising damage to the home.

The Australian Standards recommend that homeowners get their houses inspected at least once a year.

Will I still see pests after a Pest Control Treatment?

Yes, it’s perfectly normal to see pest activity in the first few weeks due to the flushing effect of the treatment. It can take up to 5 weeks for your pest treatment to settle down and become fully effective.

Ultimately though, a pest control treatment is just population control - meaning it will be effective in greatly reducing the population of pests present but it’s impossible to completely eradicate every pest from the environment.

How much does Pest Control Cost?

This will vary depending on the type of pest being treated and the level of infestation present. There is generally a base price for the most common pests, then any additional pests that require treatment are added to that base price. That way we can tailor our treatments to your specific needs.

What do I have to do to prepare my house for my Pest Control Treatment?

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR GENERAL PEST TREATMENT
Before we arrive:
• Please don't have other trades/gardeners etc. organised to do work on the same day as our treatment - in order to spray safely there can be no one else on site
• Remove children's and pet's toys, clothing, blankets, cushions and bedding if they are on the floor
• Put all food away. This includes items on bench tops and covering food in the pantry if not already covered
• Put dishes away or cover kitchen items with a towel
• Remove washing from the washing line. We don't want spray drift getting onto your clothing
• Close all your windows
• Put tooth brushes into a draw
• Remove glasses of water from bedside tables
• Put the BBQ tools under the BBQ lid
• Turn air conditioning units off
• Take dogs/cats away for 2-3 hours
• Remove or cover dog/cat water bowls and food dishes
• Cover any bird cages and water dishes
• Cover any fish ponds/tanks and switch off any fish tank pumps
• Clean dog droppings up from the yard
• Remove vehicles from your garage and driveway to allow us easy access with our hoses and equipment and to prevent spray drift onto vehicles
• Where possible, move large furniture items away from walls including sofas, shelving and storage items. This will provide the best access to apply treatment around the base of walls and along skirting boards.
• If there are items under the home in raised homes, make sure there is access for the pest controller.

Bear in mind that the above information is just a guide - a list of things to consider. Generally, on an average size house, this preparation should only take 15-20mins.

Do I need to leave the house for my Pest Control Treatment?

If a spray treatment is being carried out, we recommend that you leave the house for 2-3 hours to allow the spray to dry. Times will vary slightly depending on the specific treatment being done.

What happens if it rains the day of my Pest Control Treatment?

Light rain will have no effect on the treatment. If it rains after the treatment, it will have no effect on the treatment as long as the spray has had time to dry. The chemical we use is similar to paint, in that it will not wash away once it has dried.

Typically, on a summers day, the outside will be completely dry within 20-30 minutes post treatment. So don’t worry if we have a shower of rain after your treatment. The treatment will only be compromised if heavy or persistent rain is falling on the treatment areas before it has had time to dry.
